St David's Students Do It Again! Best Examination Results Ever!

Year 11 StudentsYear 11 Students

Staff and students at St.David's High School in Saltney are celebrating record breaking examination results this year.

At  A level the pass rate was 97% with 96% of students achieving the Welsh Level 3 Threshold  of 2 A levels or equivalent.

Headteacher Tony Davidson said  'I am pleased that the great majority of sixth formers have achieved or exceeded their target grades. In all instances, students will be able to proceed to the next stage of education or training as planned. These results are well deserved and reflect the hard work we have all put in during the past two years. We are proud of the achievements of all students, particularly Josh Eaton ( A grades in all subjects) and Georgia Bold (A and B grades in all subjects).

At GCSE, 75% of students achieved the Welsh Level 2 threshold of 5 GCSE passes at grades A* to C. 64% achieved A* to C grades in all 3 coresubjects (English, Mathematics and Science).

Mr.Davidson added, 'For the fifth consecutive year, we have beaten our previous best at GCSE and exceeded the  challenging targets agreed with the local authority. These results really are excellent and I am delighted.  Students of all abilities have approached their GCSE examinations with considerable energy and determination, and teaching staff have provided excellent support and guidance. The results achieved reflect the hard work and dedication which we have seen over the past five years.  I congratulate everyone concerned and I am pleased that so many  year 11 students will be joining our sixth form.'

As a school our aim will be to continue the upward trend and  achieve results which currently place us in the top quartile of schools in Wales for added value and progress in learning. We are likely to be inspected during the course of the year and these results will set things up very nicely'
